The Coming of Spring

One day recently I looked out among the trees, across the street from my balcony where I sat, and realized everything was green. The day before everything had been brown, decaying, and damp. Oh, but now! There were light greens and dark greens. Purples, whites, and reds popped up all around me.
I felt as though I missed the memo that Spring would be unveiled today. Suddenly, it was here. I could smell it in the air as well. The wind is now sprinkled with warm tufts. How I love this time of year! I know I'm gushing, but it can't be helped.

Despite everything that has happened in the past couple weeks, with Alex losing his job, there is much hope in the air. Alex has been out on the town this week, walking Libby and Lucy and advertising for his business; Barber Dog Walking, Sitting, and Training. If you live in Bellevue area, wave and honk if you see him! He is also doing some construction work with Westminster Home Connection (formerly Presbyterian Disaster Assistance) which is an organization that is bringing many blessings to Nashville. And best of all, he's been home a little more, giving me more time get things done and giving him more time with our baby boy, Gavin.

Here's Gavin playing League of Legends with Alex
It's hard not to have hope when you look at a smile like that one above. Maybe that's part of the reason why I'm full of optimism and peace. At least once an hour, usually more, everyday, I am greeted with a smile and a giggle. How can my heart not be light all the time?

I leave you with these thoughts. It's easy to miss the seasons changing, the world moving, if you're always dreaming in the future or regretting in the past. Living more in the moment has taught me to see the beauty of the world around me. That beauty distracted me from what I don't have or what I didn't get and helped me to see the gratitude in every moment.
