Sunrise with the Girls |
When we got there, the sun was rising, and the chickens knew it. We could hear them cluck-ing and bahk-ing in their home, sounding patient but urgent. They seemed to be saying, "Excuse me, please, could you let us out??" They didn't want to miss a single moment of sunshine. I don't blame them. The girls strutted out of the coop door, heading straight for the grass and bug-filled Orchard. It was so fun to see them tiptoe about looking for bugs or begging for food.
From the outside our little Chicken Adventure seems small and mundane. We get up super early, drive for 5 minutes, feed some animals, and go home. But, it felt like so much more. Walking into Bell Garden, I saw double. There in front of me was a Garden and a Chicken Coop. Pretty standard stuff. But I could also see my future farm. I could see how one day this Chicken Adventure will be a everyday task. I lingered over the raised beds and the rows of seedlings, breathing in the fresh air of nature. Bell Garden is a beautiful place. I've been lucky to witness the transformation of the Bell Garden and it gives me hope that I can cultivate a homestead one day just like the one I saw in front of me.
Too soon it was time to leave. As I pulled myself away from the lovely Chickens, gathered my family, and headed home, I sighed a breath of contentment. I sure am blessed even though I still remain a Farmer in a Farm-less world. Very blessed, indeed.
Have a lovely day, folks.
Your Farm is beautiful! I can see it too. :)
